The Campaign for Greener Healthcare

The mission of this campaign is to improve the sustainability of the healthcare sector by putting into practice what we already know. The first programme of the campaign, Green NHS will focus on the National Health Service of the UK.
Green NHS will provide the National Health Service with support in achieving life-cycle sustainability in all areas of purchasing and provision. Green NHS will do this by providing services for evidence-based assessment and implementation, by encouraging networking to share good practices and by supporting action programmes.
The three main elements of Green NHS will be:
- Find reliable evidence of interventions for sustainable healthcare
- Work with the NHS to implement these
- Measure effectiveness and refine

The Campaign for Greener Healthcare is an activity of the UK Registered Charity, Knowledge into Action. It works with the public, private and community sectors, and undertakes activities throughout the UK aimed at putting green words and targets into tangible and sustainable action, primarily within the National Health Service and the industries that supply it.
